I can tell you from experience that there is a tremendous difference between owning real property VS owning and managing a portfolio of revenue generating domains and websites. I prefer the latter any day. Plus the financial and time benefits can be substantial. Similar to real estate investments or any investment really, most people are self taught. They learn from the school of hard knocks, where the tuition can be quite expensive. The same is true with being a “virtual landlord” You don’t have to be a tech whiz or even know how to code. You just need a mind for marketing and knowledge of how to get others to do the things you don’t know how to. Being a general contractor of sorts, where you know what needs to be done and the questions to ask to get it done.
As for myself, I have actually combined the two to offer virtual services to real estate agents, property managers and investors. My interest in real estate has shifted from long term residential homes to short term vacation rentals and SaaS (software as a service) tools to the aforementioned. .
