I never did much with bitcoin until recently. I was intrigued by a shop owner in Fort Lauderdale who had a Bitcoin ATM in his shop. We got to talking (I went in there everyday for a bit) and he advised me to buy $200 worth and forget about it.. I like supporting like minded people, so that’s exactly what I did about a month ago…. Anyway, I’m sharing a simple spreadsheet that keeps track of your bitcoin transactions. You can also use it for What If scenarios. I don’t advise any investment unless you study and know what you’re doing. I haven’t been this enthused about an investment since my great grandfather introduced me to pork belly futures and Drip Funds (esp Coca Cola) when I was a teenager! It pulls data from Google Finance.
Below is a simple spreadsheet keeping track of my bitcoin purchases…. you can also use it for “what if” scenarios or exercises… i.e If I had bought 100 dollars worth of bitcoin on July 31, 2017 what would it be worth today… The formula to pull Bitcoin data from Google Finance is: =GOOGLEFINANCE(“CURRENCY:BTCUSD”) The formula I use for the end of day price (23:59) is =INDEX(GOOGLEFINANCE(“BTCUSD”,”price”,date(2017,7,31)),2,2).
Bitcoin changes all the time…. Price/Bitcoin is the price I paid for my bitcoins. If you see any mistakes, please let me know. I’m working on a more complex spreadsheet which will include other #crypto along with other features. See the screenshot below for an explanation… the spreadsheet is below the screenshot.
